Philly & the 'burbs

Haul out the holly. The FREE Holiday Greens Sale on Sat. at Bartram’s Garden in Philly is the perfect place to help deck your halls with wreaths, centerpieces, fresh evergreens and poinsettias for the season. Music, crafts and fresh apple cider are also on tap.

Santa Paws is coming to town this Sat. and Sun. to take pictures with your four-legged friends at Hotel Palomar in Philly to benefit the animal shelter and clinic PAWS. FREE seasonal treats will be available for pets and people alike.

Travel back to 1840s London at the FREE Narberth Dickens Festival in Downtown Narberth on Sun. and encounter period street vendors and food, carolers, carriage rides, ice sculpting and a kid-friendly scavenger hunt to find famous Dickens characters like Scrooge and Tiny Tim.



Grab some hot chocolate and enjoy the magic and merriment of St. Edmond’s Academy’s FREE fifth annual Christmas Trees on Parade in Wilmington on Fri., where you’ll find over 65 Christmas trees, decorated and illuminated by students, faculty and parents.

Journey back to Christmas past on Sat. when the Delaware Agricultural Museum & Village in Dover transforms into A Farmer’s Christmas, a turn-of-the-century Christmas village complete with blacksmiths, carolers, woodworkers, historical crafts, Santa sittings and staff dressed in period attire.

‘Tis the season for handmade decorations and Sat., kids ages 5-10 can add another one to their collection when they attend the FREE Biggs Kids: Handprint Wreath Workshop at the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover.


South Jersey

Grab your little swashbucklers on Fri. and set sail for the Collingswood Community Theatre as a crew of pirates take a voyage to the North Pole in search of Christmas treasure as they finish up their run in the final performance of Jingle Arrgh the Way.

Main Street in Medford pays homage to Charles Dickens on Sat. when it transforms into a Victorian-era Christmas wonderland for the FREE Medford Dickens Festival, featuring music, food, stilt-walkers, storytellers, magicians, horse drawn carriages and a live Nativity.

Experience a Dutch Christmas for FREE at the annual Sinterklaas Festival at Hageman Farm in Somerset on Sun. With Sinterklaas, the Dutch St. Nick, nearby, costumed dancers perform in clogs to traditional music, kids participate in old-fashioned crafts and carrots are left by the fireplace in clogs for the horse that takes the place of our reindeer.
