Signs of Summer

Cups, Popsicle sticks, straw wrappers, cookie crumbs, and red mustaches.

No it's not craft time.

It's summer.

The time of year when a mom can leave a room and return to find these things and more.

Let's not forget about wet towels, soggy bathing suits, and empty bottles of sunscreen.

Deflated rafts, broken goggles, and flip-flops without partners.

TV's playing for no one, uncharged iPods begging for life, and last year's school books.

It is all strewn about my house along with three lazy children.

Which is why I am floating in the pool, far away from it all.
