Girl Scout cookie season is here

Girl Scout cookie season is here

The Teen, third from left, recognized as last year's top Eastern PA seller.

What to do, what to say...

It's that time of year.  What more can I say about Girl Scout Cookies? Well, I can ask you to support a Girl Scout and buy some cookies!

Selling cookies at City Hall, Phila.Last year The Teen took the award for top seller in Eastern Pennsylvania. Trust and believe that was a lot of cookies. This year we aren't selling nearly that many. I've set a modest goal of 500 boxes. If my niece decides to go on a Destination, I may up the goal. But for now, I'm low balling it.

This cookie drive is bittersweet.  This is the last year I'll have The Teen to myself for hours at a time, our relationship going back and forth between hot and cold as we hawk cookies. By the last week we're on grunting terms. Me, with my desire to sell "one last box"; The Teen resisting in every way possible so she can resume a normal social life.

I won't have pockets full of cash, making it rain at our troop leader's house or wear this any more:

My dreams won't consist of this:

And my weight won't spike with the extra Lemonades around the house (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!).

Some things to remember:
  • Cookie sales run from now to March 3.
  • February 8 is National Girl Scout Cookie Day
  • Cookies are now $4 a box.
  • There are four vegan cookies: Peanut Butter Patties, Thin Mints, Lemonades, and Thanks a Lots.
  • There is a new cookie, Mango Cremes.
