National School Survey Seeks Your Feedback

National School Survey Seeks Your Feedback

Students, parents and educators have until Dec. 17 to participate in Speak Up, an annual survey that takes the nation’s pulse on key educational issues.

The research project is facilitated by Project Tomorrow, a national education nonprofit group that supports the innovative use of science, math and technology resources in K-12 schools and communities.

The Speak Up survey lets individuals share their viewpoints online. Each year, findings are summarized and given to national and state policy makers. Participating schools and districts can access their data free-of-charge. Answers are confidential; participants are not asked to give their names

This year’s survey includes questions about emerging technologies such as digital textbooks, online learning and the use of smart phones for instruction. Students are asked on the survey to design their own “mobile app” for learning. The survey also collects information on teacher recruitment in science and math, teacher quality and how to develop student interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers.

Since fall 2003, the Speak Up project has collected and reported on the views of more than 1.85 million K-12 students, teachers, administrators and parents from 23,000 schools in all 50 states.
