American Girl Opens First Outlet Store in Hershey

American Girl has opened its first outlet store and it's just up the road in Hershey, PA.

The store opened Saturday in the Tanger Outlets Hershey, about a two-hour drive from Philadelphia. The closest regular retail American Girl stores are in New York City and Washington DC.

You could combine it with a trip to Hersheypark or make it a shopping trip. There are plenty of other stores as well as another Tanger outlet in Lancaster (yes, where they had the sinkhole in the parking lot the same weekend that American Girl opened over in Hershey).

American Girl is a Wisconsin-based company (they had an outlet there until 2016) that is now part of Mattel. Their niche is 18-inch-tall dolls of young girls representing various ethnicities and periods in American history.

Since they can retail for more than $100, an outlet has obvious appeal to parents trying to expand their American Girl family without breaking the bank.
